She discovered something curious.
In 2012, Janani was working with ArtyPlantz to create programs for adults to experience more of the natural world. Every time she conducted such a program, they always told her how grateful they were to go back to how connected they were as children. How they felt young and alive again. This observation took her on a journey into herself and an ethnographic study of those around her. The result of this search was clear. If a human does not get the opportunity to Grow in Nature when they are young, they will never build a foundation to fall back on later. If a child does not create non-human relationships as well, they will struggle to find health and happiness later in life.
With the message coming through so clearly, she couldn’t ignore it. From there, the path was clear and what’s more, on the way, fellow travelers have joined in. Together, they are on a mission to make sure the next generation of Indians to become citizens will be given the space and opportunity to grow in nature. There are many people working towards making Earth sustainable, saving our forests, getting back to the land and GRIN wishes to make sure the next generation knows what nurtures them and how they need to protect it.
